Tyler “TK” Kenney has been the Green Ambassadors Teacher at ECMS Gardena since 2018. TK has been a full-time classroom teacher since 2015 and an outdoor educator with the Catalina Island Marine Institute and the Angeles Oaks National Forest since 2009. TK has enjoyed partnering with NatureBridge since he was a high school student and is known for his long list of environmental field studies (field trips). TK is a member of the ECS community because of its desire to center student leadership and growth mindset in efforts to seek a sustainable future for Earth. TK was drawn to teaching in LA through his deep connection with social justice movements and civil service. TK is a member of White People for Black Lives, Comidas No Bombas, and the YMCA. TK holds a Master Degree in Education and a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from UCLA and holds a B.A. in International Relations from UC Irvine. TK is from Laguna Beach and has loved his time in LA since 2013. TK loves hiking, biking, swimming, and zero-scaping! His favorite books are The Next American Revolution by Grace Lee Boggs and Are Prisons Obsolete? by Angela Davis.
