Shirley N. Ollie, Literacy Coach, Environmental Charter Middle School.
In addition to her role as Literacy coach, Shirley Ollie is also a substitute teacher for both the high school and middle school at ECS.
After receiving her B.S. in French from Jackson State University in Jackson, MS, she began working in the audit Department at Sears.
After more than three years, Shirley began working for Xerox Corporation and subsequently relocated to Carson, CA. After a 22 year tenure with Xerox, she began a teaching career at Acacia Baptist Christian School (Hawthorne, CA) and Calvary Christian School (Inglewood, CA).
During her tenure in 2003, Shirley Ollie became Principal of Calvary Christian School until its closure in 2006. As principal she attended the Principal Academy programs to further develop her leadership skills. Since 2006, she has worked in a myriad of educational contract positions: teacher, administrative consultant, administrative assistant, to name a few. During the first half of 2012, Shirley provided homework help to students attending the Brotherhood Crusade after school program in LA.
Subsequently, Shirley became a substitute teacher at Environmental Charter and accepted the position of Literacy Coach in September, 2012.
She enjoys reading, movies, tutoring students, and spending time with her family.
