Norman Pinto joined Environmental Charter Schools in August 2017 as the English Language Development Coordinator. His role is to support the academic success of all students whose primary language is not English. Norman’s native language is Spanish. He graduated from the University of California Santa Barbara with a B.A. in Liberal Studies. Norman began his teaching career in a bilingual school in North San Diego County in 1996.

After obtaining his Masters in Education TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) he and his family moved to Cuenca, Ecuador where he taught middle school and high school English for three years. In Ecuador he also opened a small business teaching Test Readiness, focusing on the TOEFL iBT exam, to college students.

Before arriving at ECS, Norman worked for 3 years as a middle school English Language Development teacher in Northern California. Norman is a San Francisco native and his youngest daughter, Raquel, will also be a proud student of ECS. Norman has been married for 28 years, has three children, and two rescue dogs, one from Ecuador (Bluberry) and one from Mexico (Josie).
