Jeffrey (Jeff) McBurney has 5 years of experience in teaching. Previously, he was the founding 6th grade history teacher at a middle school in Los Angeles. Jeff is at ECS because he was drawn to the focus on the environment and community development at ECS. After his first visit to an ECS campus, Jeff experienced the vibrant energy that helps schools thrive. He wanted to be a part of that energy at ECS. Jeff has worked with Facing History and Ourselves, a professional development organization for educators. He is also beginning to work with Organizing for Action, a group that builds communities through empowering public service, in the summer and fall of 2017.
Jeff is a graduate of University of California, Davis and holds a B.A. in political science and psychology. He earned a M.A. from Loyola Marymount University in curriculum and instructional leadership within secondary education. Jeff is a native of Leona Valley, California. He loves to spend time outdoors, especially getting his hands and feet in the dirt while gardening. Jeff loves to hike and embrace the beauty of the environment.
