Cynthia Aguilar is the College Readiness teacher at ECMS-Gardena. She is passionate about providing students of color access to higher education. Her responsibilities in this role include developing cross-curricular reading skills, strategies to ensure academic success in core courses and college awareness. Cynthia is a graduate of California State University, Los Angeles and holds a B.A. in Urban Learning with an emphasis in special education and a minor in Women’s and Gender Studies.
Cynthia grew up in Orange County, in Santa Ana, CA. Outside of teaching, Cynthia is involved with Mujeres de Maiz, a women’s activist organization based in East Los Angeles. She also enjoys reading, writing and yoga. Her favorite yoga pose is Halasana (or plow pose).
